Lore

Origins

In the beginning there was only Ginnungagap, the yawning nothingness.  From this gentle void emerged the sphere of Vikingr.  In the north the frost flows of Niflheimr locked in an eternal struggle with the flames of Muspelheimr to the south.  Slowly from the chaos emerged the Progenitors and Norns who weaved order and forged the nine realms.  Their descendants will inhabit Vikingr until the realm once again falls into Ginnungagap.

Age of Beasts

After the events of Ragnarok, the final battle between the Gods and Jotnar,  the nine realms of Vikingr cracked open and are now fused into one. The gods have perished and their corpses fertilized the nine realms with their blood and essence.  In the wake of the destruction wrought by the events of Ragnarok the inhabitants of the lesser realms have found themselves in a new position of power within the cosmos. Now that the immortals have perished, mortals control their own fate.

The fallen God’s power, Eitr, now permeates Vikingr. Beasts have been warped by their affinity to the land. Populations have ascended to sentience over their feral counterparts. Together feral and sentient beasts are the dominating factions of this age. While the humanoid races have also been affected they find themselves struggling to maintain their holdings against the forces that conspire to return Vikingr back to a less civilized state.
