Breeds

Humanic Breeds

Scattered across the realm of Vikingr are the descendants of the Midgardrians. Their homeland has the highest concentration of humanic groups but they have spread to all corners of the realm.

Since the humanic breeds do not have as close of an affinity for Seidr as the beasts do the majority of their strongholds tend to be on the edges of Void zones that provide a buffer where they can fall back to fight on more even terms. However as their strength increases more pockets of civilization develop.

Aesirite

Descendants of the Aesir

Dverger

Dverger have almost completely fused with stone. Only the Eitr of the mountains they shape keep their life force woven to Yggdrasil.

Dokkalfar

The Dokkalfar once were stewards of Yaddrasil and her orchards. They were tempted by Nidhoggr to help destroy what they once held most dear. They have been twisted from their grace.

Draugr

Those that die dishonorably as an oath-breaker, murder, ergi, or deserter are prevented from receiving eternal peace. Their soul is consumed by Nidhoggr but Yddrasil keeps one thread of life intact granting them a chance to earn a glorious death to reclaim their name. Torn between the torturous whispers of Nidhoggr and the pure breeze of Yddrasil a Draugr is in constant torment until their task is complete. The longer is takes the more Undead they become.

Einherjar

Descendants of the Midgardrians that fought on Vigrid during Ragnarok and lived to pass on their legacy.

Entic

Woodland eitr manifestation.

Jotunic

While losing their great size Jotunics retained their incredible strength and resilience.

Ljosalfar

The graceful Ljosalfar are very traditional and have not abandoned their oaths made to the Norns to tend the orchards of Yggdrasil, daughter tree of the progenitors.

Nymph

Daughters of Yddrasil.

Ratatoskr

Part horned squirrel.

Satyr

Sons of Yddrasil.

Skraeling

Pure Blood Humanics

Sprites, Faeries, Spirits

Sometimes a humanic has such an affinity for Eitr that they are all consumed by seeking it. While powerful practitioners of Seidr, their practice draws them ever closer with their fate. Their life threads are unraveling until they are one with the Eitr they crave. Often parts of their bodies with be partly or entirely essence.

Trollic

Often living in harsh wet areas Trollics are highly adaptable and resistant to many diseases, poisons, and curses.

Uligalfar

Scattered across Myrkheim, the dusky lands of the north, there are seedy encampments of masked Alfar known as the Uligalfar.  Once they were either powerful Dokkalfar or graceful Ljosalfar. The fallen Alfar have become twisted opportunists that plague the surrounding lands that often serve as mercenaries to the highest bidder.

Alfar are known for their immaculate beauty and fierce pride.  Should their physical form be scarred by injury or disease they will go to extremes to conceal the blemished skin.  Alfaric medicine can normally heal wounds with seamless precision but every once in a while an Alfar is marred beyond full recovery.  Should the unlucky soul have a maimed face they often elicit such ridicule that they are ostracized from their peers and driven mad with grief. To preserve some sense of honor and pride they often don an extravagant mask to spare others from having to gaze at their grisly visage.  Often a mask is still not enough and they sink deeper into their pit of despair. Most set out seeking magics that can restore their pristine figure. They will betray any friend and pay any price.

Vanirite

Descendants of the Vanir

Valkyrie

Valkyries are descendants of the Great Raven and the sisters of Hugin and Munin as attested to by their large pair of sleek, dark, and raven feathered wings and keen intellect.

After the events of Ragnarok many still continue upholding their oaths to collect the honorable dead.  Should a warrior die an honorable death a Valkyrie will shortly drop from the heavens to collect the body.  Its is foolish to stand between a Valkyrie and her charge.  They are able warriors both nimble and powerful.

Unfortunately Nidhoggr has corrupted several enclaves of Valkyries. Their oaths have been twisted to instead bring the dead to Nastrond where he can set them about his own purposes.

There are flocks of Valkyries that have willingly abandoned their oaths to hunt down their fallen sisters.
